The downside to the game is hard to find. In addition to this, there are different types of soldiers some require iron to be made before you can create their armour, and some don't. The player often finds a struggle between having enough food for the peasants and having enough soldiers to defend the territory. The game stands, in my opinion, above other strategy games that I've played recently, because it details both economy and war in an interesting way. I bought Stronghold 2 because I was looking for a good PC strategy game, and I got what I was looking for. kudos! some one was listening! Read full review The only current situation that allows that is to write your own campaign, form the ground up, with schedualed invasions from set points, which kind of unfairly taints your designs because you know the threats.Įdit as of the 1.3 update they have included the ability to spawn armies to assail your freebuild. I would really like to see a free build with a fight button that would spawn armies to assail your designs to test their effectivness. The only real downside to it was a lack of freebuild scenerios with the ability to fig ht your design built in. If you are in the market for a castle building Sim, I know of no other that will fill the void like this game. The campaign is much tougher than the previous versions, primarily due to new content, such as siege engines. I can forgive some laziness when it comes to the assault armies based on the level of detail given to the spawned characters from the buildings. The overall graphics were fair, but the castle building portion was excellent, i found the wall construction pliable and forgiving, with building integration to walls a definite plus. With the limited number of Castle building Sims avialable, This game stands head and shoulders above the rest, and it competes primarily with it's predicessors. If you need to haul stone you won't be able to do this. You also might want to place them around their towers because after a while they will tear them down leaving openings. However, I have found that some of the lord's will send men out to destroy your oxen, if they do this they will be able to leave. If you put the oxen (used to carry stone to your stockpile) in the openings to your enemies castle and put them to sleep the enemy will not leave the castle, thus letting you just go on about your business and them not attacking. Also to anyone that has the original stronghold if you haven't gotten thru the game here's some advice. I do advise that you have a faster processor on your computer and plenty of memory because it plays kind of slow on mine because of this. This one has video's of the enemies and allies conversing as well like when you complete a level or objective. I also like that in the campaign there is actually a storyline with this one rather than just traveling along a map like in the original. In this you can also purchase a stone triple wall, rather than having to put layers after layers (saves a lot of time). In siege equipment, there is the original equipment that was in the first one, battering rams, siege towers, catapults, trebuchets, etc., but in this one there are extras, such as the burning cart (you purchase these and two siege engineers will roll them to the spot commanded and you hit target and the will release the cart burning into the enemies structures, thus setting them on fire). There is also a Lady's Bedchamber (purchase one of these and in a few months your lord will get married). Take for instance in castle structures, the burning logs (with these you hang them over the side of the castle wall and when the moment is right you click them and click release, this sends a bundle of burning logs down onto the enemy standing below), the stone tippers (similar to the burning logs except it's large stones instead), rock throwers (these are very handy because you can put them up on your wall and just put the peasants up there that you purchase fro m the barracks for cheap, they are not great warriors but with a rock in there hand they are very effective). But some of the great things that I like about the game is the added extras that you can purchase. They say that it is 3D but it really is not that much different than the first. In essence it is, but I must say it is not what I thought it would be. I bought this game because I had heard that it was much better than the first.
